2023 Accounts

Officers seeking election :

Chairman – Simon Cornish
Simon is a retired software developer and associate lecturer and a true Ferring-ite, having lived here for all of his life. Married to Wendi, with two adult children. Simon is a key member of the Ferring History Group. Simon has been a FVH Trustee for a number of years and took on the role of Chairman in May 2022. He brings experience of business processes, logic, and clear thinking to the role. When not involved in the day to day running of the hall, Simon likes to indulge his hobbies of classic cars and motorbikes.

Treasurer – Betty McCann
Betty, a retired IT Consultant working in the Insurance industry, moved to Ferring in 2007 to be nearer her daughter and two grandchildren.
Betty was keen to get involved and give back to the community; initially by becoming a Ferring Parish Councillor and being the Parish Council representative on Ferring Village Hall, then subsequently being appointed as Treasurer for the Village Hall back in 2011. Betty has also been a Trustee of Beehive Care Group (formerly Abbeyfield Ferring) for the last six years, has served as a volunteer telephonist for Friends of Ferring and, in November 2023, was appointed Treasurer of Ferring Retirement Club.

Secretary – Lesley Young
Lesley is a retired secondary school headteacher and a Ferring Parish Councillor and has lived in Ferring with her husband for 10 years. She is a mother of three grown-up children and a grandmother to three smaller children!
Since joining Ferring Village Hall as a Trustee and Bookings Secretary in September 2023, Lesley has really enjoyed being more involved in the Village Hall activities, meeting and liaising with one-off and regular hirers and being part of a great team of trustees. Lesley has the commitment and capacity to continue as a Trustee and to expand her duties to include the role of FVH Secretary alongside being Bookings Secretary.

Trustees seeking election :

Nigel Bubloz
Nigel, a retired manufacturing engineer for a medical equipment company, moved to Ferring with his wife five years ago. Nigel has two sons who also live locally, and four young grandchildren (that regularly exhaust him!). Nigel and his wife love Ferring and all it has to offer with the seaside on the doorstep, and a vibrant village too. Nigel joined FVH as a Trustee in September 2023, taking on the role of maintenance officer, and enjoys finding the most efficient and cost effective way to maintain things within the hall. Nigel is also an active member of FADS (Ferring Amateur Dramatic Society), which has called the Village Hall its ‘home’ for many years. He can occasionally be seen on stage, but more often busying himself backstage.

Bernie Griffin
Bernie is a retired solicitor and moved to Ferring in January 2022 with her husband and Ted the dog, following her retirement. They have one son, who lives in Sydney, Australia, which provides a great excuse for trips down under.
Bernie was appointed as a Trustee of Ferring Village Hall in May 2022, and also took on the role of FVH Secretary at that time. She is also Trustee and Secretary of Ferring Retirement Club. Although stepping down as Secretary of FVH this year, Bernie is seeking re-election as a Trustee as she would like to continue to contribute to the running of the village hall.

Keith Cockram

Debbie Dilks
Debbie has lived in Ferring 34 years. She has two adult children and one grandchild, together with two cats, two dogs and a bird! Debbie has been an active fundraiser over many years, most notably for the local Ferring playgroup and primary school. In addition to being a long-standing Village Hall Trustee (with health & safety responsibility), Debbie is also the President of the local Women’s Institute; a position she has held for some five years.

Carole Fordyce

Andrew Jackson

Tori Monroe
Tori is a mum to a teenage daughter. She has a strong local connection through her parents, who live in Ferring, and also her drama company, Tori Productions, based at Ferring Village Hall. Tori has demonstrated her passion and commitment and “can do” attitude since becoming a FVH Trustee in September 2022, taking on the important role of safeguarding officer.
